Qigong is an ancient practice that uses gentle movements, postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness meditation, to help cultivate health and healing.

The term Qigong is a combination of two terms “qi” and “gong”. Briefly, “Qi” refers to the animating energy that permeates every cell within your body, and makes life possible. “Gong” refers to a “beneficial practice” or “working towards a beneficial outcome”. Therefore, the term qigong refers to the cultivation and preservation of qi in order to promote a healthy body and natural mind.

Longevity Qigong is an integral system of Qigong practice that is strongly rooted within Chinese Medicinal Physiology, a collection of ancient Qigong forms, Eastern Philosophy, Mindfulness Meditation, and Psychoneuroimmunology.

Mindfulness and Attention Element

Longevity Qigong is a practice that is capable of cultivating greater awareness and mental focus. Because our mind leads us through our daily activities and engages in our personal relationships, it is essential that it is in harmony with our good intentions and is sufficiently fueled by our will.

Meditation Element

Meditation is a collection of powerful and effective techniques used to train the mind to operate from a place of mental calmness, composure, and clarity.

Through this state of equanimity, we are more able to connect to our lives in a way that is more direct, sincere, and awake. By doing so, our everyday relationships and activities become more meaningful, and our lives become more fulfilling.

Through the Longevity Qigong workshops, you will learn a form of meditation that is rooted within Vapassana, as well as various Taoist forms of meditation. These forms of meditation are non-theistic and are compatible with any religious or spiritual background.

Physical Health

The body and mind form an interdependent whole. The body houses the mind, and the mind directs the activities and functions of the body.

By exercising a set of carefully designed movements, postures, and breathing techniques, Longevity Qigong practitioners are able to cultivate a greater mind/body connection while simultaneously strengthening their body’s overall health.

Summary of Longevity Qigong

As mentioned above, Longevity Qigong uses a variety of techniques to promote optimal health and well-being. Traditionally, Qigong is a very important part of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and Practice Longevity is proud to offer it as a compliment to our patients’ healing paths.
