Chinese Medical Nutrition

Why is what we eat so important?

What you eat plays a role in the quality of the life you live. Every metabolic activity the body undergoes during the day (whether it is concentrating, learning, walking, talking, creating new cells, repairing cell damage, healing from sickness, or fighting disease), all depend upon the nutritional content of the food you eat.

The way you feel throughout the day both physically and mentally, the energy you have, and the emotions you feel, can all be linked back to diet. The old saying “you are what you eat” rings very true in both Eastern and Western nutritional medicine.

Diet and nutrition have been found to be risk factors in the development of health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, cancers, sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, stroke, high cholesterol, asthma, depression, menstrual irregularity, gall-bladder disease, arthritis, digestive disorders, and problem pregnancies, etc.

According to both Eastern and Western medicine many of these disease risks can be prevented by diet alone, and even more amazing, many can be cured with dietary modification alone.

While undergoing treatment with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs at Practice Longevity, it is very important to begin to integrate dietary changes into your daily meal planning.

Establishing the appropriate diet for your symptoms and constitution will both speed up and improve the results you experience from your Acupuncture treatments, no matter what your main health concern is.

Once you have reached your desired goals with Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine treatment, your results can easily be maintained by keeping up with a healthy balanced diet and following your healthy living path as developed with your practitioner.
